CNA or Nurse Assistant program Posted by: "pkcdt" pkcdt@yahoo.com pkcdt Fri Nov 14, 2008 12:59 am (PST) I am a little confused, I live here in Nevada and there is a course starting on November 21 that willtrain you and get you certified by the state of Nevada in just 5 weeks. It was reccomended by the state board of nursing. That is for a cna! Now, my plan was to stay here in Vegas and take that class, However work is tough here now so I may be heading back to NY. After searching on the internet on an indeed.com/cna forum-- I stumbled upon a class at my local hospital for a nursing assistant which is not for certification but just to work at their hospital.http: //www.brookhaven hospital. org/careers/ brochures/ Nursing_Ass ist_Brochure. pdf(This course in 4 weeks long (w/o certification) .
I dont want to be stuck to one hospital I may decide to move out of state again this year. My question is -- are these estimates correct can you take a 4 or 5 week course and then a state exam and be certified? Or does it take 2 years and $30,000? That's another issue in itself! I'm more confused now! Thanks for reading! ;D ;D

I would take the CNA course, but if I was planning on moving Then I would wait to take the course in NEW York. No CNA course should cost 30,000. You will need to check with your state you get certified in to see how many hours are required. You can go to the CNA registry site for your state and they will have the information. If you do decide you would like to get certified in one state and then move to another then you will need to request reciprocity. This means that you are asking the new state to recognize the approval you received from your home state. Contact the State registry in your home state and request a "Application for Enrollment By Reciprocity". Ask them if you should send the completed form to them or to the state to which you are moving. The contact information for the state registry can be found at www.4cnas.com If I were considering moving in the near furture then I would see if New will accept Enrollment By Reciprocity before I moved. This will give you a better understanding as what to do. Diane Marshall 4cnas.com
