Greetings everyone.
I feel that this message is long over due. As a recent grad of the CNA program in DE, I have noticed that we as CNA, have a very low standing in the various organizations where we work.
It is about time that we as CNA take charge of our futures, and start to demand more repect, money for the job that we do, since we as CNA are on the firing lines everyday in the type of care we give to our residents or patients.
In my short experience as a new CNA, the functions of the hospital, nursing homes, home health aides, etc could not perform as well regarding ADL Activities of Daily Living, if we as CNAs were not there renderding this most need care to patients.
Let's take charge, and start demanding more respect, more money, and a since of professionalism about our career. According to what I have heard and read, in the next ten years, the demand for CNAs will triple because of the baby boomers are retiring.
I would welcome any comments to this most important message.
Randy

No matter how many co-workers you work with, you ALL need to band together and take a stand with your employer. The hospital or nursing home cannot function without CNA's. Have a meeting outside your place of employment, write down everyone's concern and have 2 people who will represent your workforce, meet with the Administrator. Listen to what he has to say and go from there.

The Home Health Aide and the CNA are the same. The Home Health Aide is trained to take care of people in the home ,The CNA mainly in the hospital are nursing home. I have been a CNA since 1987,a HHA since 1988.In the 80s you had to be certified nursing assistance to work in a hospital are nursing home.In order to go into someones home through an agency you had to get a Home Health Aide certificate. The nurses can not function without the CNA or the HHA doing all of the work.Like bathing, feeding the patient, making sure the patient is doing ok. I live in Clearwater,Fl and I work for one of the major hospital Home Health agency. This is my first time on line. Thanks for listing and thanks 4cnas for being here.
